Injection Sclerotherapy for Hemorrhoids

There are various procedures and surgeries that can be used in order to treat hemorrhoids.  If you are experiencing bleeding or pain from hemorrhoids, it is easy to look into the options that are available to you.  By doing this, it will allow you get back to normal activities.  One of the options to look into is known as injection sclerotherapy.  This particular procedure may be a good option for those looking to get rid of their hemorrhoids. 

Injection sclerotherapy is best known to treat hemorrhoids that are smaller and in the internal rectum area.  These are harder to remove with other types of surgery because there is not enough tissue.  Your doctor will be able to remove the hemorrhoids by injecting a chemical where the hemorrhoid is located.  This will eventually move into the blood vessel area and cut off the blood supply that is moving to the hemorrhoid.  As a result, the hemorrhoid will fall off. 

The way that this chemical works is by first moving into the area where the blood vessel is found.  From here, it will cause the area where the blood is to harden.  The tissue that is living from the blood in this area will not have the necessary blood in order to remain swollen and will eventually die.  After the hemorrhoid comes off, a scar will form in the place where it was. 

In addition, if you decide to get this treatment, you can expect bleeding to occur for at least a week after you have the procedure done.  However, you can expect this to stop by itself, as it is a result of the hemorrhoid falling off.  You can also expect to have some pain and discomfort after the surgery while the blood supply is being cut off from the chemical.  This can easily be relieved with either painkillers or by taking a sitz bath. A sitz bath is highly recommended for those that suffer from hemorrhoids.

If you have smaller hemorrhoids, injection sclerotherapy is usually a good option to consider.  Usually, these types of hemorrhoids will not be able to be treated with other types of surgery, such as rubber band litigation.  However, they will probably be producing a significant amount of blood. 

When you decide to get this procedure done, you should also look at the risks that are involved with this procedure.  Because you are being treated with a chemical, side effects such as allergies or an infection may occur.  It also may cause more bleeding or pain in the area around the hemorrhoid. However, usually these symptoms will go away as the hemorrhoid dies and as the chemical moves outside of the body. 

If you have a significant amount of bleeding from your hemorrhoids, but they are too small for other types of treatment, you can consider injection sclerotherapy.  Through the use of chemicals, this particular type of treatment will help in solving your problems with hemorrhoids.  After a week, you will be able to move back to a normal lifestyle and keep the pressure relieved in this area.
